You bring Christ to dwell in our daily lives. The best five minutes of our day.
I can't tell you how much your program today on depression and worry helped me. Thank you for giving me hope.
Dr. Sala, you are a gem that sparkles in the dark! You are a soothing voice that quiets the sorrowing spirit.

I was on my lowest, almost ready to end my life when his book “Finding Refuge and Strength” literally gave me the strength and refuge I needed during those darkest days of my life. It served as my stronghold and lead me to restore my faith in Him again. His words through his books which I share as a gift to whenever and whoever I was given the chance to share his writings helped those around me to be guided of His ways. Not knowing Dr. Sala personally, but he will always be a part of the renewed me. Thanking the Lord God for a beautiful soul he shared to us. It was heartbreaking to know that he already left us as I was browsing where to find another copy of this book since even the personal copy I had was passed on to a friend.
I met Dr. Sala through his wife. I invited Darlene to speak at a women’s retreat based on reading her book, Created for a Purpose. Darlene and I developed an email friendship planning for the retreat and have stayed in touch ever since. Harold met her at the end of the retreat and I was able to meet him as well. My dad remembers his radio devotions. I then invited Harold and Darlene to speak at a singles retreat and got to know and love them even more. I visited them several times in California and Harold would give me books and ask how he could pray for me. He was always focused on people’s spiritual health. He was such a caring and giving man. He has had a important impact on the world and used his gifts for the kingdom of God. He will be greatly missed.
Tribute To Harold Sala

Every Monday untill Friday at 06.55 in the morning, i set my radio channel at 100.6 Heartline FM (Indonesian Radio) to hear your 5 minutes guidelines. Its really easy listening and remind me to do what Jesus ask me to. Please accept my condolences, may Dr. Harold J. Sala rest in peace.
While at college, I took a course on the Book Of Acts. Dr. Sala was my professor. As a young believe, I shall never forget the wisdom Dr. Sala imparted to me. Also, his 5 minute daily commentary is always an inspiration and a blessing.
I set my alarm at 4:40 every morning so I don’t miss Harold Sala’s wisdom every morning. He is so concise in the use of his words. Always something I can apply to my life. I love waking up to his voice. I am a widow like his wife now. I suggest she start looking for little things she enjoys that bring encouragement. That’s what I found in their program every morning. Still feel lonely at times, but KHCB is a great help!

Thanks God for the life of this devoted servant who has help us see the ups and downs of life with God’s perspective. We will gather together in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ
I continue to listen to the words of Dr Harold Sala as my life is filled with problems only helped by God. Dr Sala messages are so practical and never is the person I share with complains about it./Truly his life had been ordained to be service to others in the name of Jesus. I was so saddened when I learned thathe passed ahead of me. I am renewed to know someday we will meet again in Paradise. God had promised us that asHis children we will be glorifying God and singing praises to HIM. Dr Harold Sala, we will see you again.
His books always inspired me and I share it to my friends as well. They’re simple , great guide , practical , precise and so encouraging . Also, every time he will be preaching in our church , im so very excited to hear His message. Im so happpy i had an opportunity of meeting him in person in CCF alabang with sis Darlene Sala and signed the books that I bought. thank you for your life Dr. Harold Sala. You have fought a good fight, you kept the faith and you finished well. you’re an epitome of God’s testament of love, grace and goodness! Praise God indeed for your life.❤️🙏
While I was still in the Philippines, I’ve been a daily listener of Guidelines for Living in Radio DZAS, a local radio station. I’ve been so blessed by the practical application of God’s words in my daily life.
When I migrated to the USA, I was so happy to find out that I can continue to hear Dr. Harold Sala everyday over radio KHCB here in Houston, Texas.
And what a blessing when I met Dr Sala in person! Our church, First Philippine Baptist Church had him as Speaker during our church retreat! And we were able to also meet Mrs. Darlene Sala and Bonnie, her daughter!
Dr. Harold Sala had a life well lived in excellent service to our Savior and Lord Jesus. I’m sure heaven is rejoicing with all the saints and angels when Dr. Harold got home!
We are very grateful to God for the life of Dr Harold Sala. His life inspired us in so many ways. He also impacted our lives through “Guidelines” and his books. Praise God for meeting him personally in the Philippines with my family and his wife, Darlene. Thank you Lord for giving a long life well lived with an ultimate purpose to Dr Sala. Surely we will be missing all his great contribution in the body of Christ.
Great service Harold was a great person and will be missed regards Michael Sala
Im so thankful for Dr. Sala, my morning commute to work to a stressful job has always uplifted me. I always long to hear his voice when I feel down. Thank you Dr. Sala for guiding me , see you in heaven
My daily coffee and listening routine. This has been a huge part of my life for the past 7 plus years. I love starting my day this way.
What I remember about Dr. Sala is his gentle spirit and accessibility. He never considered himself too important to make himself present for everyone who needed his help. The first time I met him was when we needed help and advice about an upcoming mission trip to the Philippines. He dropped everything and gave us an audience. He helped us not just with financial resources but with wisdom on how to be successful in being Jesus’ hands and feet. Dr. Sala is the epitome of Matthew 10:16, “Wise as serpents, gentle as doves”. He has a calming spirit, yet when he speaks, it makes your spirit tremble and stirs it to action. I have never met a man quite like Dr. Sala. I will miss you dearly but I will always feel your presence with the legacy that you left us with. It live on to eternity!
Harold was such a big part of our lives during an important period. He helped me release so many of the rules I grew up with in the Catholic Church, bringing a sense of freedom and understanding I hadn’t known before. Having him marry us only deepened our bond, making him an important part of our family.
He meant so much to so many people around the world, touching lives with his wisdom and compassion. He truly was a great man of God, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Dr Sala was a man of conviction and perseverance and he was the most single minded person I was privileged to know! His determination to share the good news of salvation was outstanding and has left a strong imprint on the life of me and my family!
I am glad, he and Darlene have visited with us in Austria.
Sincerest, simplest, purest, finest servant of Christ; I listened to “Guidelines” in the 70’s up until the 2000’s(?). I have three of his books which I really treasure-two were autographed. It’s as if God is directly speaking to me thru these ‘devotionals’. I am priveleged to meet him personally twice. Praise God for his well-lived life !
Dr Sala has always been an inspiration to me.There are times when I go off track, listening to his words of guidance encourages me to continue my journey with the Lord .May God continue to bless this ministry and the Sala family. Rest in eternal peace,Dr Sala!
He has impacted my life in so many ways with his voice of storytelling . I had seen him one time at Downey Calvary chapel. Spoke a powerful message of hope for me , I had decided to follow Jesus more in my life and have donated more into his ministry, thank you Jesus for Dr Harold Ssla !!!
In 1998, I chanced upon a compilation of Dr. Harold Sala’s daily devotions. It introduced me to his 5-minute program at 98.7 DZFE which I listened to during the commute to work. This eventually led me to 702 DZAS. The radio, started me on the path to Christianity where I later on prayed to receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior and Lord. The Lord eventually led my entire family to a local church where we have been serving for about 15 years now.
Thank You! Dr.Sala for encouraging me every morning as I drive to work at 7:00 am
I first met Dr. Sala when I was a teenager involved in Youth for Christ in my hometown. (That was in the late ’50s.) He was part of a trio from Bob Jones University that came to hold a revival in our area. Dr. Sala was one of three handsome young men, very talented musically and with a great love for the Lord even then. I had never forgotten them and their impact on my life.
godblessyou for your teachings and life
Much like his GOD, Dr. Sala’s message did not change over the decades I’ve listened to and read his daily messages. May the LORD continue to bless the Guidelines Ministry and the Sala Family.
I have listened to Dr Sala’s devotional messages for many years. What wonder memories I have. I refer many times to them in my daily walk with Christ. He will be missed by many. I am looking forward to meeting him in the Lords house on day. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to his family. May God bring you comfort and peace.

While reading through the life story of Dr. Sala, the parable of the mustard seed came to my mind, how this large ministry had small beginnings. The secret was the moment taken in 1960 to sincerely ask God what He wanted, and invest everything in response to His voice.
We are glad that Guidelines for Living is aired on our station.
I grew up listening to your program. You inspired me to walk with God daily and your soothing voice gave me comfort as I listen to you deliver Guidelines for Family Living. Thank you!
Dr. Sala described himself as “an American with a Filipino heart.” He loved us Filipinos, and he demonstrated that in the many books he wrote and his regular visits to the Philippines with Darlene. It is an honor for me to be considered by Dr. Sala as a partner in ministry through OMF Literature, the publisher of his books in the Philippines. And I’m deeply grateful for his and Darlene’s friendship.
I am Droti Jonathan, a listener of Guidelines for living Radio program in Uganda. When I got my first Smart phone in 2017 I signed up for the guidelines daily email devotional, from the on I’ve been strengthened and encouraged by the Gospel that Dr Sala shares, and one I can’t forget is wen he said Never lose faith in God. May God the eternal God source and sustainer of life be glorified for his life dedicated to speaking hope to the world, and his messages are an eternal investment in many lives including mine.
It has been a profound honor to work alongside Dr. Sala and his family. We will always cherish your kind words, your passion, and your unwavering commitment to sharing God’s message. Your life has been an incredible source of encouragement and inspiration to many. You touched hearts and uplifted spirits, leaving a legacy of faith and love that will never be forgotten. Our heartfelt condolences to the Sala’s family from FEBC Hong Kong.
I first heard him on FEBC PH’s DZAS in 2009. He greatly influenced my life and taught me much about God.
I thank God for Dr. Harold Sala’s faithfulness.
Love and prayers,

Uncle Harold has had a profound, personal and eternal impact in Jenny and my life. His humility, love for Jesus, love for others, wisdom, vision and faithfulness immediately come to mind and we praise Jesus for making him that kind of man. However it was the personal monuments that we have shared with him and auntie Darlene that have changed the way Jenny and I trust God and relate to each other. Thank you for giving your all for Jesus Uncle Harold and aunt Darlene.
We love uncle Harold so much and will miss him until we see him in eternity.
We are praying for you Auntie Darlene and the rest of the family. May God continue to comfort and encourage you during this time.
Love from the Philippines,
Paul & Jenny
Dr Harold Sala was such a blessing to me and my family. His 2 minute commentary got me through my kids adolescence and kept me believing that God had a plan for them and He’d see it through. I never gave up. My kids did grow up to be awesome adults. My marriage was a struggle but Dr Sala had plenty Godly advice on centering God in the middle of our marriage. This past February we celebrated our 44th anniversary. When my son passed away in 2014, the many years of hearing about Gods peace flooded my mind. Although I will never be the same, my love for our Lord will never change. I thank God for Dr Harold Sala for loving God so much that he would share that love with us.
Thank you Guideline Ministry

My husband, Dennis, and I moved to Redondo Beach in the early 1970’s so that he could continue his medical training at UCLA. After searching for a church home for several months we tried So. Bay Bible Church. It only took one sermon for us to realize that Harold Sala was a gifted Pastor! We learned much in the short time that we attended the church until the Sala’s left for the Philippines. It’s been a privilege to follow Guidelines these many years. I’m especially thankful for Harold and Darlene’s books! I’ve shared several of them with friends and family and I know that our Lord will continue to bless you in His service.
Praise the Lord
As a Asian Indian American Citizen my memories goes back to the 1989 Transistor Radio Broadcasts of Dr. Sala. If I miss it, NO internet to go back listen to him.
current technology has provided a BUFFET FEAST to listen at any time current and past archives.
Dr. Sala, has blessed many many folks like me.
He will be dearly missed. May his soul rest in peace. He is rejoicing in Heaven. kindly accept my heartfelt condolences. Amen and Shalom 🙏
Gonna be greatly missed. Especially found his smile could brighten any day. His voice and incouraging words from our most precious savior, king and guide are very welcome.
And then there is the most beloved Bonie. Thank you. You are an enormous blessing.

Dr Sala’s daily commentary on living has greatly inspired me in my daily Christian walk. His insights were profound yet practical, timely & relevant, and I could sense God speaking to me through him. His guidelines on family, relationships, marriage and finance have greatly helped me to become a better mom, wife, friend and financial steward.
Since 2012 I have been listening on the radio in the mornings and now I have his letter from Guidelines. He was truly a man of God, and he will be missed. Praying for the family..
DR. Sala has impacted my life in so many ways. His influence can not be measured!
I became a first generation Christian in 1981 at the age of 27. I came across Guidelines on the radio. Dr. Sala was the Godly grandfather I never had! His practical wisdom helped me to realize God is for me and He is there no matter the circumstance! His wisdom helped me thru all of life’s stages. So much wonderful wisdom brought by that reassuring, calming voice with the full confidence in God, even Jesus Christ!
I am now 69 and still listening to DR. Sala. So grateful and thankful for Dr. Sala and the Guidelines ministry! Reaching the world for Jesus!
Growing up here in the Philippines, our radio was always tuned in to DYFR-FM, the only Christian radio station in our city. Everyday, I would here Dr. Sala’s 5 minutes Guidelines for Daily Living. It was one of the foundations of God’s Word that served as a guide for me growing up. I also had the privilege to see and hear Dr Sala and his wife Darlene in person when they came to our city. I am thankful for his faithful service to the Lord and I look forward to seeing him in eternity. At present, I am also blessed reading Darlene’s daily devotionals.
Guidelines was birth when I was a baby in 1963.
As a child growing up my mom and dad stayed tuned to KHCB in Houston TX.
Doctor Harold Sala was one of the many ministers who sounded The Gospel of Jesus Christ in our home.
As an adult I still tune in to the station.
In 2011 my 9 year old daughter passed away and I grieved her, but I asked The Lord what to do, and I reached out to Dr. Harold Sala. The Lord used him to write me and send me godly material from The Word, also a book he wrote on losing a family member. God healed me through the process of Dr. Harold’s Guidelines Ministry.
Thank you ever so much Sala Family and Guidelines.
My condolences to your family.
I am a widow now, and The Lord God is still at the helm of my life. He will not leave or forsake us! Amen. (Isaiah 61:1-3)
Dear Bonnie,
Yes, I did see the August 7th email about your dad and was shocked, because I did not realize that he was experiencing his final days. I saw the title, “Remembering Dr. Harold J. Sala – Celebrating a Life …” and could not believe what I was reading. I have to admit that I was too upset to open the email until yesterday, when I looked at it with Mary, along with your email.
I am still very sad, even though I know I should be rejoicing. I think I may be in a “state of denial,” which may not be the most accurate label. Part of it may be that I have felt very connected to Harold, because I have been listening to and reading his Guidelines for at least (I think) forty years. Meeting you and your mom and Harold at the Depot Diner was a truly wonderful and very special visit.
Thank you so much for the photo, which I will print and keep with the book in the photo, which I have read many times. In fact, I began reading Ch 2 again this morning. It contains many “underlinings” and written notes. Next to the section titled, When You Minimize God’s Opinion Of You,” I wrote “Read pp 37-48 often, especially when my self image is slipping.”
In another section, Harold wrote: “Never underestimate the scope of your influence. God gave you the gifts you have, and He has a purpose for them and for you.” Next to this I wrote as a reminder to myself, “Teaching students mathematics” and “50 years of teaching, advising, and coaching at Hopkins School.” And for most of those fifty years, each day began with reading my Bible and Harold’s Guidelines for the day! I could give you many more examples in this book and in his other writings of how his “guidelines” influenced me and my interactions with students, colleagues, and members of my own family.
I have put a reminder in my datebook for Harold’s Memorial Service on August 26 at 1 PM. I wish I could have made the trip to California to say “Goodbye” to him, but now I will look forward to making the trip to Heaven to say “Hello” to him! We will be praying for you and your mom and the Guidelines staff during this difficult transition.
With our love and hope,
Clay and Mary
We had the privilege of meeting Dr. Harold Sala through the Moody Family Life Conferences, from which a ministry friendship grew. We lived in Southern California at the time which provided us the opportunity to meet Darlene and members of his family. Their lives demonstrated such humility and passion in sharing the gospel to the lost and helping believers grow in their relationship with the Lord. Harold is leaving a beautiful legacy and example for all of us to follow. Keeping Darlene and the Guidlines for Living family in our prayers.
My life has been enriched immensely from the inspiring, informative, moments with Dr. Harold Sala as he shared each and everyday! I looked forward to listening on my car radio to the many insightful guiding words from the bible and helps on how to live Christlike. I was a new Christian, when first hearing Dr. Harold Sala worked driving to specific cities daily and was in and out of my car so I could easily catch Guildlines for Living and I always came away filled with a better understanding of Jesus, how to live & how much God loves us & so much more !
On the ministry of Dr. Harold Sala* His life is well lived, serving God in multiple ways here & abroad presenting the Gospel in loving ways to Honor & Glorify God!
Thank you, Jesus for Dr. Harold Sala, Darlene and the ministries they began!
Thank you – The Guidlines for LIving Team !
I listen to guideline for 34 years on khcb 105.7FM when I heard that Harold has passed and graduated in to Glory this year just like my mom graduated back after Thanksgiving last year I said to myself brother in Christ has gone home and I sat thank I did not lose some of the most important people in my spiritual life rather i have gained them for all eternity guidelines was there with me when my dad passed back in 2010 and now my mom I can never think him enough for helping Me to continue with the Lord in those hard times thank you and I pray that guidelines will continue on until the Lord returns see he has been a friend and like a very good grandfather who shared his wisdom with everyone are to us all. 🙏 I can say beyond The Shadow of a doubt brother Dr. Harold I’ll see you in heaven 🥲
Good Morning All!
I enjoyed every message from Dr. Sala that God put on his heart to share, listening to 105.7.
Very uplifting and inspiring.
I pray God’s peace upon you all and Dr. Sala will be missed
Much Love 😘
I have loved listening to Dr Sala’s 5 minute pearls of wisdom every morning on the radio. He lived the Word of God out through his teaching. I am sad to hear he’s gone, but I can only imagine his joy in being with the Savior he so loved. Rest in Him, Dr. Sala.
We have been blessed to have known Dr. Harold Sala as a faithful friend and partner in ministry for over four decades. His dedication to tirelessly serving Christ was contagious. Harold influenced us to follow Christ wholeheartedly, to develop Biblical materials that will outlive us, and above all, He modeled an unquenchable passion for reaching the world with the Gospel. Harold was devoted to his family, and we are thankful for having the privilege of seeing him and Darlene work together so wonderfully.
Praise God for placing energetic people like Harold Sala in our lives who loved us unconditionally and faithfully reflected the life of Christ through the circumstances of life. Indeed, he was a leader with a servant’s heart – a trailblazer and mentor to us and so many around the world. He was a tremendous blessing, and we are so grateful for his life and legacy. Harold finished well. He lived a life of authenticity and integrity for God’s glory. We will miss his cheerful spirit, profound sense of humor and wisdom.
It is a blessing to know that the world will continue to be reached for Christ through Dr. Sala’s radio programs, excellent books, and through Guidelines where he served for over 50 years.
We’re grateful and thankful for Dr. Sala’s insight and practical guidelines. for so many years. Praying for his eternal rest in His presence eternally. His love for our Lord Jesus and gospels has touched us and am sure many more of his listeners. I am confident he’ll hear the words “Well done my child….” from our beloved Lord Jesus Christ. This world’s loss is heaven’s gain. May y’all be comforted in your grief and have that joy for his homecoming which we all aim for.
Harold & Darlene have been like spiritual “parents” to us since 1979. I was invited to Darlene’s Ladies bible study thinking I had no interest & no need for The Lord. That was only because I did not know Him. During this study I fell in love with Christ and learned a great deal. The following year Harold began a couple’s study, we attended and during the 2nd meeting my husband Richard fell in love with Christ as well. In the next few years a very healthy and meaningful foundation in the faith was built for us as we studied under Harold & Darlene. Harold baptised us both, and two of our three children. Through the decades they have supported us and mentored us in meaningful ways. I am imaging the incredible conversations Harold is having now with the saints.
We are literally eternally grateful and love them both.
Mrs. Darlene,
I send my heartfelt condolences to you and your family at this difficult time of the loss of your dear husband, whom we all loved. Dr. Sala has been an inspiration to me for many years. He is now finished the race and the work God called him to do on earth. He is now with his God awaiting resurrection with a new body that will never get sick or die .be comforted by the promise of reunion.
Dr. Harold J. Sala gave me inspiration with the daily devotions I read each morning through email. The devotions spoke to me in a deep way that only God can do. Thank you for your service and your commitment to spread the word of God through all the world. Dr. Sala you are a truly a man of God.
Dr. Sala was a very dear friend . We met in 1953 in Denver CO. & sang in a quartet together . We loved to play golf together . He & his dear wife Darlene have been a great inspiration with their devotions . I’am grateful for Bonnie & her Guidelines team as they continue to proclaim the gospel faithfully in many parts of the world . May our dear Lord Jesus abundantly bless you all . My love & prayers , Jerry
At some low points, Dr. Sala blessed and encouraged me with such godly wisdom and compassion. He is one of my heroes of faith, full of the love of Jesus and caring deeply for the world without ego or pretense. It was a great privilege to know him.
Darlene and family:
I will never forget you dear people way back in march 2001 when I attended Armin Gesswein funeral and stayed in your home. Harold and I got to know each other. What a
wonderful servant of the Lord. He helped me so much making the transition in moving

Dr Harold Sala is God’s gift to me during my dark days married and so unhappy. His wisdom and prayers have changed me drastically that I feel now what is important is God and family. He and Darlene has continuously prayed for me and I have now evolved into a woman of few tears because I now trust completely on the Lord. I have learned that sharing my gift God has given me for ministry is my life purpose. Surely I will miss him but I know someday we will meet again. His 5 minute commentary has come in just the time when I needed those words most as surely God had used him to tell me. Thank you Dr Harold Sala for being my friend and advisor.
Dr. Harold Sala’s books and specially devotional books helped me as I start my walk with the Lord.. During my college days, I happen to buy one of his books, and from there it made me see more and learn more from the Word of God. I appreciate his approach and as a youth, I easily grasp the message for that was really what I needed during that time. From then on, I always buy his writings and eventually found out Guidelines his teachings and more. Saw him also from CCF, and just love the old man. Praise God for your life Dr. Harold Sala.. ❤️
Sunday, Aug 25, 2019, we met Dr. Harold Sala and his wonderful family at the lobby or foyer of Calvary Chapel Downey (CCD). He gave us a warm hug of greetings. We always looked forward listen to him as a Sunday guest speaker at CCD. I’m always glad that CCD always invite him. He was quite humorous, amusing especially in a witty way and evokes genial laughter. I bought some of his books. That’s how I got to know him. I know I can learn a lot from him. I can tell he’s a special guy. God bless.
Dr. Harold Sala has been my Christian leader and mentor since the 1980’s, when I joined FEBC’s ministry. I have been using Dr. Sala’s Guidelines for Living quite a bit in my Russian broadcast. Today FEBC broadcasts Dr. Sala’s Guidelines throughout Eurasia and beyond in Russian, Ukrainian, Kazakh and Kyrgyz languages. The Guidelines of Dr. Sala will continue to help people worldwide even after he has passed on to be with the Lord. Praise God!
Harold has been such a special part of my. He was a neighbor for over 20 years and a part of my for nearly 50. He has been there for my family during the best of times and the hardest of times. He officiated my wedding, there for my children’s births, and officiated funerals. He’s mentored our family in our faith in Jesus and we wouldn’t be the people we are today without the influence of Dr. Sala. His joy and love for the Lord is an everlasting legacy and I’m forever grateful that Lord brought our families together! Love you Dr. Sala!
I started listening to Guidelines for Living and it’s tagalog interpretation “Panuntunan” aired through 702 DZAS in the 1980’s. It helped me grow in faith, knowledge and obedience to the Lord. Now, as an associate pastor in a small church, I use Guidelines devotionals through online subscription as one of my resources for giving God’s messages on Sunday worship services and Bible Studies. Thank you very much Dr. Sala for sharing to us wisdom, hope and encouragement from God s Word. “There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind, that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears”. May Guidelines International Ministries continue to bring hope and encouragement from God’s Word and reach souls and nations for Jesus. The Lord bless the whole Guidelines Team. More power! “Therefore we do not lose heart though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” – Ogie
Harold made a great impact on the world. Clearly his ministry is reach millions, but I think he was also a great example and influence on other ministry leaders throughout the years. The foundation he laid will touch the lives of untold millions more. Thank you, Harold. Bless you, brother.
It has taken me a few days to reflect on the enormous impact Harold made on my life as a young man. His spiritual and moral guidance, along with that of my own father, set me on a pathway to success. Harold always made me believe the seemingly unachievable could be achieved through strong will, work and wit. His unwavering trust in God was a powerful example to me and I have repeated the story of Guidelines and its worldwide impact to hundreds of people over the years. His was life lived well with a solid marriage and children who loved and respected him. His words touched the hearts of millions and I am certain he was welcomed into heaven by so many who came to Christ as a result of his teachings and counsel. He is sorely missed but he certainly greatly celebrated.
All my love to each of you.
I got to know Dr. Sala on his numerous visits to eastern Ukraine. He combined wisdom with generosity, kindness, and energy. When my heart was breaking over a collapsed love affair, he took the time to really listen and advise. Later on, he and Darlene helped bail me out of a financial hole. I hope I’ve learned a little something from his example.
Dr. Harold and his wife Darlene were a dear friends of our family since my early childhood. My parents looked up at Salas and the way they walked and raised their children in the Lord. Then I grew up and wanted to serve the Lord and he and his wife supported me for 6 years. In those years of my young formation he played a crucial role in helping me see the Lord through tough and bright life situations – living in a culture of 45 nationalities, learning English from the scratch in the new community, moving to a new country as an international student, going though a broken engagement, struggling with an addiction, then introducing my future husband to Dr. Sala and being approved. In all of these situations he’d point me to the Lord and say/write in his email – “one step at the time”… I just kept on moving… slowly but surely. With God’s and with Dr. Sala’s help. He’s been my adopted grandfather.
Thank you Jesus for Dr. Harold’s life <3
I listened to Dr Sala on the Radio for many years then he came to teach at our church. He taught us dozens of times. And every time, when he was introduced, he would jog to the pulpit; so eager to share the saving message of the Cross of Christ. Now I can imagine him jogging into the arms of Jesus . . . Rest dear friend.
I have thoroughly enjoyed his teaching. He is now Heaven GAIN. If we follow his path, we will be also. Thank you to the family for sharing such a Jewel. May God Grace continue to cover you. Job well done thy good and faithful servant. Until we meet again!🙏
When we first met in California, I could never have imagined that this humble gentleman would have such an impact on my life. I wish I could have spent more time with him, I wish I had the opportunity to live in the same geographical area. He served well, he finished well, he left a legacy of great dignity. May the Lord give your mother great consolation that you, but mostly your mother, had a great deal to do with Harold’s invaluable service. “Bonnie, you are your father’s daughter! You can carry his legacy of service with honour and be a good guide to us all. You are also fortunate to have a hero like Kevin.” We love you very much and our condolences.
It has been a decades since I first heared his voice .Truly his message made me closer ro my God and wanted it to know more about Christ .His
life changing series of sharing has been a part of my day to day routine until now that I have grandchildren…
Congratulations Pastor…
and thank you !
“Reflecting on the life and teachings of Dr. Harold James Sala, I am reminded of the profound impact his spiritual messages have had on my journey with God. His words, rooted in deep faith and understanding, challenged me to grow closer to God, deepening my spiritual walk. Through the trials and triumphs, his teachings served as a beacon of hope and guidance, and I am forever grateful for the way God used him to speak truth into my life. Dr. Sala’s legacy lives on, not just in his words, but in the countless lives he touched, including mine.
After hearing about brother Harold‘s homecoming, I have been flooded with memories of this wonderful servant of the Lord and this wonderful missions team of faithful, persevering and joyful people and his precious family. Regarding his ministry, when Harold spoke, he not only spoke with the passion of conviction, but with a penetrating sincerity that made it stand in truth upon its source, the Word of God.
For memories that I cherish the most I would have to say the weekend Harold and Darlene came to our church for the Missions Weekend and stayed at our house, and secondly being convicted by the Holy Spirit to ask our church to sponsor a Ukrainian missionary by the name of Alexandre Mosychuk after Harold‘s appeal to address the plight of the Russian/Ukrainian people in one of his commentaries.
Darlene, you are a great gift that God gave to Harold. I will let God supply the appropriate adjective, but I say after his salvation, you’re just right up there. Prayers for you and all the family.
I’ve been listening to his radio broadcasts in DZAS for so many years and only then when he spoke in our CCF service was I able to connect the voice to the person..I greeted him as he signed the books I bought, and told him I’d wanted to buy more of his parenting guidelines. To my delightful surprise, he took another book and gave it to me as bonus. Those books that the couple Harold and Darlene wrote truly became my guide in raising up all 4 young children then..now in their 30s, youngest of who is in his late 20s. Praising God and thanking Dr. Sala for the valuable help in parenting as my children truly came to know, love and obey God the best way they can.
One of the “Guidelines” broadcasts I found most memorable on KHCB radio was when Dr. Sala recounted a time he was practicing at the church organ in the early morning hours. He described the way the light showed through the windows and the worshipful experience it was. He was a true Renaissance man!
Every day I look forward to Dr Sala’ s five minute guidelines. How important and appreciated was his work indeed! There are obviously too many to recall specifically, but many many years ago there was one titled “Just For Today Lord”. I will never forget that one. My sincere condolences and God‘s blessings to the family.✝️
Love listening to the soothing and encouraging voice of this beloved saint! May the world continue listening through his ministry archives and more souls be won to The Lord as a result. My prayers for the family as we “rejoice for his presence with The Lord and grieve for the loss of a beloved saint. “. Psalm 84:4
the Lord giveth, the Lord taketh…..in everything give Glory to GOD! AMEN!
THANKS pastor Harold…ur messages will b in our hearts….
Dr. Harold Sala’s mission spreading the Gospel impressed significantly in my life’s journey as a wife and a mother way back in the early of 1990’s in the Philippines. His book for women always reminds me “that as a wife and a mother we are the mirror of our children and our home even our husband. We are designed to give not to take.
I will not stop reading daily the Guidelines for Living, as well as sharing to others.
Thank you so much Dr. Harold Sala♥️🙏
You will be missed by many people!
Rejoice and rest well in our Dear Loving LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS.
My heartfelt Condolences and Prayers to the Family 🥰🙏
Dr. Harold J. Sala’s Guidelines program was a great source of inspiration for me because of his encouraging words of God.
I just saw the announcement of Harold’s passing from this life into the presence of the Lord to receive His final reword. My best memories of my time with Harold were when He and Darlene invited four of us young missionary couples to their home in Redondo Beach to encourage us in the labor before us. I had the opportunity to get to know Harold better in the Philippines as we served in FEBC there at the same time. I know that many lives were impacted by His labor in many ways, and I am confident that the Lord of glory will reward him in His time and way. Darlene, I pray that you will know the comfort of the Lord as you face a different life. And Bonnie I also pray that you may know God’s wisdom and strength as you carry on your father’s legacy. I still remember our short meeting at the NARB conference a few years back. I pray that the whole family may know the presence and comfort of the Lord in this difficult time. Soon we will all pass from this life to be together in the presence of the Lord for all eternity. Let us encourage one another as we see that day approaching. Glory to His Name!
Thank you Dr. Sala for guiding and keeping me on the right path to salvation. You have finished the race and kept the faith. Now it’s time for you to enjoy all our Heavenly Father’s blessings as your reward for blessing so many here on earth.
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am a life that was changed
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am so glad you gave
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am a life that was changed
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am so glad you gave

Remembering the best times you spoke at Calvary Chapel Downey,Ca. You will be missed y. Looking forward to seeing you on the “other side”. In His Service, Shirley Pierce
my daughter and I began listening to Harold during COVID when we were all locked down together. we have continued to losten, me working from home and she commuting from work to home. we hear dr Salam on BBN. we often have conversations about the word dr sala brings to us. we are saddened for ourselves, the ministry and the world at his passing but rejoice in the exultation of knowing this faithful servant is hearing the words of his master and rejoicing in his eternal reward, having now obtained a full understanding of the Bible he so deeply loved.
I started listening to Dr. Sala in the early 90’s on KHCB. His 5 minute commentary was always powerful, pertinent and personal. In those 5 minutes God used Dr. Sala to heal, encourage, strengthen, correct, affirm and love those who listened. We can only imagine the lives he touched and the seeds that were planted over his 60 plus years of ministry. I am so grateful I was privileged to meet him.
I discovered “Guidelines for Living” around 1984 and I was relatively new in the faith. The 5 minute commentaries were a perfect size for my morning quiet time. I have faithfully listened to them over the years and Dr. Sala discipled me through them over the years. About 15 years ago, I had the privilege of meeting him and having lunch with he and Bonnie. It was a blessing to finally meet the man behind the message. He was as I expected, a humble and gracious servant of our Lord. He allow a group I was involved with to meet in the “Upper Room” for a few years. I have been the recipient of 40 years of 5 minute, one day at a time discipleship and am forever change by the man and the message! I am rejoicing with you Dr, Sala.
I had the opportunity to attend bible studies at Harold and Darlene’s home for a few years. During this time I gained a monumental respect for Harold as a humane being and more importantly a tremendous Bible teacher and scholar. Although he was educated at an extremely high level Harold was a master in communicating to anyone on their level. He was a true servant of God and someone who shared his faith with anyone wo asked. I will miss him and I look forward to meeting with him in Eternal life.
Truly the life of Dr. Harold J. Sala was such a blessing. He has always been a living testimony of God’s goodness and greatness. I know God is embracing Dr. Harold and welcoming Him with a warm hug, saying, “Well done, my faithful servant, you fought a good fight, you’ve finished the race.” Thank you for your life, Dr. Harold. Looking forward to meeting you in God’s kingdom.
We here at The Rock Radio Network feel really blessed to have aired Dr. Sala’s program for over 24 years. His teachings and words of wisdom have been a blessing to our listeners AND staff. He will be greatly missed. May God give Darlene, his family & staff peace.
You message touched my heart 60 years ago at the darkest time in my life. I know the Holy Spirit was always in your voice these past 6 decades. I will miss you, but I know the day will come when I will be with you worshiping Our Lord in the assembly, but I will miss greatly you until then.
I’ve been hearing you from 702DZAS as a kid up to meeting you in personal in my young adult year. Thank you Dr. Harold Sala for the inspiration and shared wisdom through the word of God☺️. May you experience the joy, peace and rest in the presence of the Lord saying “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
Dear Sala Family, our sincere condolences on your loss. I have had the honor and blessing to listen to Dr. Sala on KHCB radio for years. His timely messages were always anticipated every morning. His messages were always exactly what I needed to hear for that day. He will be greatly missed, but I look forward to meeting him in heaven.
I first heard “guidelines for living” about 10 plus years ago. I came to love the simple but powerful 5-minute commentaries that helped me throughout the years.
I became a financial supporter of the ministry and rejoice in all that God has done through guidelines international ministries. Dr. Sala, you will be missed, but we praise our precious Lord and Savior and our awesome God for how you allowed him to use you to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world to precious souls of men, women, boys and girls. We look forward with anticipation, to seeing you again on heaven’s shores. Thank you my precious brother for allowing God to use you in the way you did. Much love from Lori and I.
It won’t be numbered the many times you had delivered God’s messages to me! You are now at Home with our Savior = Praise God!
We have been listening to Guidelines for Living for nearly 20+ years. Our family, including our adult children, are deeply saddened, yet joyful that he is with Jesus! Dr. Sala’s “Guidelines for Living” has had a profound impact on our family, bringing us closer to God, fostering a deeper understanding of God’s grace, and love, that we always have hope even in very challenging times. His wisdom and heartfelt messages have truly blessed us, we are so grateful for his life and years of faithful service. We personally experienced God’s love and grace through his service. ”Praying for Darlene and Bonnie and your Family! Thank you! Ho-Jun & Joreen Lee from Houston, Texas
To my family, Dr. Harold Sala was a friend, brother, father, and grandfather at the same time. For more than a quarter of a century, we shared a sincere and deep friendship. We worked together fruitfully at Donetsk Christian University and in the missionary fields of Yakutia and the Russian Far East. The relationship between Harold and Darlene in their marriage was better than books on the subject.
One day we will be together again, our dear brother Harold, because we share a common faith in Jesus Christ, Who has conquered death!
Dr Harold Sala has taught me about GODS forgiveness and the remove or my past guilt and shame I.am so thankful for the leading of GODS SPIRIT IN DR. Sala daily devotions.
“To be absent in the body is to be present in the Lord” It is with heavy heart when I learned the passing of Dr. Harold Sala but I know He has just changed his residency. I always looked forward to listening to him in the radio when I was still living in the Philippines. God has greatly used him to strengthen my faith in God. Thank you so much Dr. Sala for your passion and dedication in spreading the Word of God. Praying for his family left behind.
I grew up listening to Radio ELWA in Liberia and one of the fond memories was listening to Guidelines for Family Living by Dr. Sala. This five-minute commentary made tremendous impact in my life as I struggled to survive during our civil war and even now at an adult, I still listen to this “endless” broadcast on the radio. Currently and for the past 4 years, I followed the program from the Guidelines for Living website pinned to my computer and every morning I read the daily. I sometimes share excerpts with my family during our family devotion.
Dr. Sala helped to strengthen my faith in the LORD in the midst of extreme hardship. Rest in peace, Servant of God.

Hi, my name is Grace Shangkuan Koo.
Dr. and Mrs. Sala knew my family well. He was a friend of my father, Elder Shangkuan Shih Chang, and my brother Daniel Shangkuan was a board member of FEBC.
My husband Caleb and I had the privilege to be invited by the Salas to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Guidelines International Ministries in 2012.
And I was honored to be invited by Dr. Sala to write a review of his book “The Parent Map” (2013).
Here was my review:
“In this book as in his others, Dr. Harold Sala never departs from teaching the unchanging principles of the Bible, even as he deals with thorny issues of the changing times. Readers love his succinct style – lessons illustrated with vivid stories and supplemented with doable actions. Moreover, we all love the author who walks his talks. Dr. Sala and his loving family are this book’s best endorsement. The Parent Map will marvelously motivate you to be and do your best for your children.”

I’m from Philippines, Since i was young, i listened to radio 702 DZAS-FEBC, mostly in the evening i heard Dr. Harold J. Sala over the radio. At my young age mostly english speaking/speaker is pretty new and cant keep/catch up, but as i continue till now im 49yrs old, and i believe Dr. Sala used by our Almighty God to bless me more on my spiritual walk and guidelines for my living and faith to Jesus. Angels in Heaven is so rejoicing for his coming home. Godbless us all.
Hello, I am saddened, yet extremely happy, Dr. Sala is now, with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I’ve been listening to Dr. Sala, and his Guidelines program since the 1980s, when I was in the military, in Norfolk, Virginia! His five minute commentaries deeply, touched my life, and I pray that many others, that don’t know Jesus, will be able to hear them, and come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, because of them! I never got to meet Dr. Sala, but I look forward to meeting him, and all of our brothers and sisters in Christ, that I’ve gone before us!
I was diagnosed with terminal, pancreatic cancer, and was not given very long to live, but of course that’s in the hands of Jesus! But, as is, I will be going home soon also, and what a glorious reunion that will be! I want to say, God bless you to Dr. Sala’s family, and tell them that they are in my thoughts, and prayers! I want to also say, God bless you, to the Guidelines ministry team, and I wish you many more years, of sharing Dr. Sala‘s messages, throughout the world! I want to tell you that I love you, and thank you all very much! May our Heavenly Father God richly bless you all, in Jesus Christ our Lord!
Dr. Sala has been my family’s companion every morning, listening to his Guidelines for Family Living via DZFE FEBC Manila. My children have been fortunate to have met him personally here in Manila and in Los Angeles during his church visit. Many of his sayings, such as “For every promise in the bible, there is a premise” has been part of my life. He is indeed a blessing to me and my family, and to all who listen to his messages.
I have started listening to Dr. Sala since 1969. The messages he shared from God’s Word have indeed been guidelines in my Christian walk. His was a life well-lived for the Lord. May the Lord’s peace and comfort be with Darlene and family.
I am indeed a Christian and am still amazed how God used this wonderful man to preached all over the world to several lost souls thereby he was sought for and right now i am drawn on his life’s history how he impacted myself and like a magnet i would want to read and hear from this man over to fill more of my quench from knowing what i have missed reading and hearing from other pastors and through God ‘s impression in my heart i want to satiate .more of that longing .. Praise God and glory to Him .
Furthermore, at this time Dr. Harold Sala has been called to another ministry of God to be there with Him in paradise as His mission on earth is done . May the soul of Dr. Sala rest in eternal peace.
His comforting and godly wisdom were something I looked forward to while listening to FEBC’s DZAS and Master’s Touch radio stations. Thank you for life and obedience to Yahweh, our God.
Dr. Harold J. Sala dedicated His Life Through His Ministry By Putting his Ministry. and his Message through his Radio Program. although his now With is Lord. but His work Is not yet Finished
Dr. Sala’s Guidelines for Living on my computer was a daily blessing and I will miss his wisdom and guidance!!!
I am deeply saddened by this news. I listen to Dr Sala on the radio when I drive kids to school. It always plays at 730 AM manila time. His guideline for living talk aired last Aug 1, 2024 about Navigating Change with Biblical Wisdom made such an impact that I signed up at their guidelines.org website that day just to see/ read the text of the said devotional … as I wanted to reflect on it more.
I was so looking forward to more of his talks … I am going to miss them a lot … Thank you Dr Sala for pointing and re-pointing me back to Jesus. Rest well.
Have loved Harold & Darlene since seminary days in the ‘60s…and then Ed pastored in Torrance in the town next to Harold’s church in Redondo Beach…….Mondays had them together occasionally on the golf course……I’m not sure there is golf in Heaven – but I’m sure they are together again there in Glory!!
Many of us are at the age when we will be joining them in not-too-long future!……:What a joy to my own life Harold has been! I will miss that time I always anticipated…..I do know I have Darlene’s and Bonnie’s voices. PTL!!
I have greatly enjoyed listening to his words of wisdom and insights for only about 6 years. Bonnie had to fill in when he was sick. When on the road down hear in south Florida the BBN station would go in and out so would miss many of his programs. I now get one every day in the mournings that eye share with my wife. Are you going to keep up Gods work till He comes for us? We keep the program in our prayers. Thank you . We are sorry for your loss but we know we will see him in glory !! Ken and Donna Williams

romy f.
I remember listening to his radio program everyday on the way to school since 1st grade all the way to high school. I am now 50 years old and serve a Sunday school volunteer. His program was a daily encouragement and lesson to me.
I have been listening to his program in the Philippines since I was in elementary school, first by chance as our radio was tuned to the station that carried it. When I was already working and was listening regularly to DZFE-FM, Guidelines helped mark the time for me in the mornings and start off my day. Thank you, Dr. Sala!
Sending my prayers to his family and ministry partners 🙏🙏🙏
My work day was never on the right footing until I got to hear Dr. Sala’s daily five-minute message before leaving for work. That is all it took – just five minutes to inspire me to be the Christian I ought to be. I’ve been retired for six years now and still get up early to hear the morning broadcast. My day does not start well even now if I don’t hear it.
His messages were always chock-full of great information. He would mention events and individuals that I would later look up on my own to study.
He will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and his ministry partners.
Dr. Harold’s messages inspired me since I was very young in the faith.
I remember always using Dr. Harold’s taped (cassette) messages to get guidelines according to God’s Word, especially when I make important decisions in life.
Thank you Dr. Harold for inspiring us.
I am his avid listenerr and reader of his books since I started in the ministry as a young pastor 40 years ago.
Thank you for inspiring us Dr.Harold through God’s message your life is a blessing us.
It is with so much sadness that I receive this news. I have listened to Dr Sala for many many years. I started listening to him when I had long commutes to work and needed something, someone to soothe my soul in Houston traffic. I looked forward to that 5 minutes almost every morning. Dr Sala imparted nuggets of God’s love, grace, and forgiveness backed by sound Bible doctrine. His insights were deep, rich, and profound. His voice was like a beacon to me. He helped to make my rough days smooth. Thank you for your words, Dr Sala. You will truly be missed.
When Guidelines aired on Family Radio, my husband always set the alarm to ring in time to wake us up to hear Dr. Sala’s Guidelines for Living Mon.-Fri. We both appreciated his timely, practical messages giving spiritual guidance and encouragement. I still have some of the magazines with his messages for a month and used some of them at church during Covid when we did not have a pastor . The scriptures were read and the small congregation appreciated the messages as well. My husband and I also appreciated Dr. Harold & Darlene Sala as guides on our trip to the Holy Lands in the 90’s and learning to know them personally. God bless Darlene and Bonnie, and all the staff, as the very worthwhile ministry is continued, and comfort your hearts now.
My sincere condolences to you, with love and prayers, Martha Buckwalter, NJ
I first met Dr. Harola Sala 2004 at GCF Couples Retreat. After that i took my M.A. Marriage and Family Ministry. I was encourage because of the impact of Dr. Harold’s ministry to many families. Since then I serve as Guidelines Teaching Associate in the Philippines. I cannot forget i had the chance to hike with him in California. While resting he took the time to ask me about my prayers. He prayed for me asking God to give me wisdom in leading CJOL. It was memorable knowing he believe in what I do in ministry. Thank you for your life and teachings.
Dr. Sala has been welcomed into Heaven but, as he’s left us here, we grieve the loss of our dear friend and mentor. He lived for an audience of One and I think Jesus must have said, with gusto and heartfelt emotion: “Well, done , Harold, my good and faithful servant…Enter into my rest.” Praying for you, Darlene, and all your Family! Lovingly, Susan J.
My husband, Ron, & I met Dr. Sala and his brother, Orville, when they came to Liberia in the 1970’s. They shared their love of Christ and the plan of salvation in various parts of the country, including Grand Bassa County. They not only ministered to the Liberians but they were also a blessing to us, the missionaries, as we had many relaxing and fun times together. In later years we visited in their homes in California and met their families. Many precious memories! May God continue to bless you, Darlene, your family and the entire Guideline staff.
Oh my. I’m sad for us, but rejoicing for Harold.
First of all, my heart goes out to Darlene and Bonnie. A new season as you go through the grief process. Praying for you both and the staff of Guidelines. What a heritage to give God the glory to, for the hearts that Harold has faithfully impacted!
As a teenager in Wheaton, Illinois, I would hear Dr. Sala on WMBI at 5 pm everyday, Mon-Fri. My parents always had the radio tuned to WMBI – Chicago Moody radio, in the car or at home. Later as I had my own car and married and raising 4 children, I continued to listen to Harold at 5 pm. Everyone in the family ‘grew up’ with him. 🙂 Back then of course, no computers, so hearing his voice for 5 minutes was incredibly comforting, enlightening and always seemed to “make sense” and wonderfully encouraging. To this day….more than 50 years later I still listen (read now) the daily emails coming to my Inbox. I have a special file just for Guidelines. The specifically impacting ones for those I could forward to at any time and also just wanting to save for my own remembrance. Great info, great encouragement!!
My husband recently passed away, so I know he’ll be chatting with Harold. 🙂 He was a deep thinker and loved his Lord Jesus as well.
May God continue to use this impacting ministry for years ahead until our Savior comes again to take us to our heavenly HOME.
God’s richest blessing to all the family, staff and listeners.
Thank you for your uplifting words, speaking to my soul, keeping my mind grounded. Most of all keeping close to Christ. Thank you!
I have listened to Dr. Sala for many years. I would get up Mondays though Fridays just to hear Dr. Sala broadcast. I will truly appreciate him and will miss him. We have lost a great man, but God knows best.
The Word of God, not only did he know when to say it; he knew how to say it! Thank you for a wonderful journey through the bible! Well done, good and faithful servant.
My heartfelt sympathy to the Sala family. Till we meet again sir!
My heart is sad to hear of his passing, but we know he is with Jesus Christ! I loved his soothing voice, and I always felt comforted.. after hearing him speak and the love he had for the Lord was amazing. I am praying for his family and thank you all for sharing him with the world.
There’s truly no measuring the impact his words daily had on my life. I’ve been listening to his 5 minute counsel for as long as I can recall listening to KHCB in Houston some 50 years plus. In fact, his spot airs at 7 a.m. here and there’s an alarm on my phone for 6:55 so I don’t miss it, but if I do, I find it in print or re-listen as the day allows. I cherish the broadcasts of his dear wife Darlene and daughter Bonnie as well. As his messages continue to air, my ears will be listening. What a blessing his life has been and will continue to be to many. I certainly count meeting some of you at Guidelines personally as you’ve traveled my direction. May the Lord God comfort you in knowing he is in the presence of the Lord.
I’ve known Harold since the later 1950,s at Calvary Temple in Denver. My late husband,Glenn Brown, was a good friend of Harold’s and we would visit through the years. One Thanksgiving when he was working on his doctorate at Bible Jones and we were at Parris Island,SC, Harold, Darlene and Bonnie came for the holiday. We visited them when we had duty in Ca. My husband was a Navy Chaplain and has been deceased for 6 years. I think that was the last time I talked to Harold. He was a great friend and I know he is having a great time in heaven.
I started listening to “Guidelines for Living” about twenty years ago. I accidentally overslept and I heard his five minute commentary which I found to be very sensible. So I started to listen on a daily basis, through KHCB in Houston and also through the Guidelines website. Especially between 2012-2015 he was a bastion of support as I was struggling with an academic position in Philadelphia, PA. I couldn’t believe it that he actually answered the letter I sent to him during that period sharing the trials and tribulations that I was enduring. I only was able to meet Harold once, at a Houston gathering, either in the fall of 2016 or 2017 and I wish I would have had more opportunities to interact with “Mr. Five Minutes.” I will be eternally grateful for the guidance he gave me both through correspondence and through his “Guidelines” reflections, many of which I have saved and still consult when need be.
He was a Great and Godly man……….
I’ve enjoyed listening so much to his short segments of how to live the life Christ intended us all to live. I’m really going to miss him. I hope they still air his 5 minute talks because they are timeless and I know as they have really helped me, they will help so many more for years to come. Look forward to meeting him in heaven, which in the way our world is going, may be sooner than we think
I have enjoyed listening to Dr. Sala probably since the late 1960’s in Connecticut on WIHS FM radio. As a new Christian I took in every word and grew in grace and in the knowledge of God’s Word. We raised our four boys with Dr. Sala’s voice and Christian radio in the background encouraging spiritual harmony in our family. It is certainly a joyful day in glory to welcome him HOME.

His obvious wisdom and desire to help his listeners learn how to live in a broken world made his daily devotionals a very strong influence in my life and I’ve encouraged many to read them by sending them on.
He will be greatly missed.
Hello Guidelines listeners,
My name is Jim Dayco. I have started to listen to Guidelines for living in the late 80’s in the Philippines. As a teenager, Dr Sala became my lifelong inspiration. I use to stay late at night to listen to the five minute commentary for living.
Now, I’m living in the US, I still listen to his daily ministry.
I will surely miss him.
My condolences to his family as well.
Rest in Peace Dr Harold Sala. In Jesus name, Amen
I so appreciate Dr. Sala. His 5 minute messages were such a golden nugget, bringing me hope, understanding & guidance for the day.
Dr. Sala had a morning devotional program on DZAS — a Philippine radio station — many decades ago when I was just a teenager. He always had something new to offer through his Biblical insights applied to practical living. I re-discovered Guidelines for Living through the internet and continue to be amazed and strengthened by his ideas. I thank God for giving us Dr. Sala and his ministry to so many.
I very much enjoyed the daily devotionals and shared many with my Mother. I can’t give a specific way that he changed my life, just that I looked forward to reading what he had to say. He was direct and to the point, especially lately. I hope those who needed to hear it the most were listening or reading it. God bless.
As the academic dean of Donetsk (Ukraine) Christian University, I was so grateful for Dr. Sala’s many visits to Ukraine to teach at the university. He impacted so many lives, and I’m sure what he taught has been passed on to countless others by many of the graduates.
I met Dr. Sala through my wife Carolyn, who worked at Guidelines in 1980. He was important enough to Carolyn to marry us. Over the years, Dr. Sala’s messages either hit home or missed me completely, but my waking moments each day were to first, read his message. I’m sure Carolyn was there to greet him in heaven’s glory and joy yesterday, but more importantly, Dr. Sala was more interested in seeing Jesus, face to face.
Well done Dr. Sala.
Was always GREAT to listen to him as a guest speaker at our church. Say hi to Pastor Jeff Johnson (Downey Calvary)
Harold’s friendship, counsel and encouragement meant the world to me. An incredible man who had the courage of a lion and the gentleness of a lamb. In other words, Harold reflected the life, light, and likeness of Jesus. Truly, a great hero of the faith, the world was not worthy of him! I will miss you friend, until I see you again…. 😉
How has Dr. Sala's ministry impacted your life?

I am so glad you gave…
